Hey, all! I need pats on the head.

I came over to Surpass this weekend from another webhost that was making me insane with downtime and weak support. I did some research, saw the high ratings, great server uptime ratio and the incredibly enthusiastic community, and thought, "Yes! This is it!"

Unfortunately, the server I was put on has been having problems... pretty much since I came onboard, and I'm having a case of the shakes. I just can't take it anymore. I've got tons of updates to do on all my websites, one is a daily blog where five other people are relying on me to keep it running, and I feel like Charlie Brown with the football, with my webhosts playing Lucy. You can work now... no, you can't. Yes, yes, the site is up! No, it's not. Sucker.

Oh. My. God.

It's not always like this, right? I mean, it's entirely possible that it's just a case of bad timing, and my server is going to be up and performing beautifully for the rest of my time here? Because, honestly, had I not had such a bad time with my last webhost, I wouldn't even blink an eye. Downtime happens, that's fine, I totally understand, I'm on shared hosting... I get it. Please don't get rabid and defensive on me, my brain will explode. Just share with me your good stories. Pat me on the head and tell me it'll be okay. Tell me it's been good for you. Because, seriously, I'm a woman on the edge. I need reassurance. And maybe a cookie.

Kalya mentioned in another thread that some of the shared servers were dealing with a lot of account transfers from other hosts, as well as a few sites that were not following the TOS which caused a lot of problems, though I can't remember if it was SH113 specifically.

I'm sure the poor server is just being overworked due to new accounts being transferred to it, people getting their new accounts set up, and the people who are just abusing it because of the $1 promotion.

Feel free to send a support ticket to http://desk.surpasshosting.com if you feel it's taking longer then necessary... Though I'm sure they're aware of it right now, but it can't hurt

Thanks! I sent in a ticket, and I'm sure that's the problem, and I'm sure everything's fine. I just need people to tell me that this is unusual, and that it will pass. I'm fine if it's unusual, and it will pass.

Yeah, since the promotion is on until the 28th, most new shared servers will probably be a bit jittery until the end of the month, or when people are finally settled in, and when the people that are going against TOS/AUP are suspended (which will definitely help with the server load and whatnot.) =)
