Question Web FTP access?

I'm on a shared plan (power I think and I'm not going to look it up right now) and I have normal access using my FTP client and I'm ok with that. However there are times when I (an my selected few) could really benefit from have the ability to access my site (one folder specifically) via a regular modern web browser to transfer files up and down. I'm assuming FTP style, though I guess it doesn't have to be FTP.

Any ideas or options for me??

In the cPanel there's a File Manager icon where you can upload a handful of files at a time.

That'll be perfect for me. What about people I don't want to give my primary access to? I knew it was there but never though about it as an option. I was thinking of something that used our email addresses or something like that. Is that an option?

You can create additional FTP users with access to only certain folders... but the File Manager is only accessible with the main cPanel user/pass.

Good enough. Thanks so much for helping me with this. I really appreciate it. I'll just force the others to rely on FTP clients only. No biggie.

You can use your browser as an FTP client in conjunction with your local file manager by drag and drop using the address syntax:

ftp://user:passwordyour.domain/public_html/folder

If you have a user folder (where your login is useryour.domain) then “user” needs to be that and the additional sign needs to be encoded:

ftp://user%40your.domain:passwordyour.domain

which will start in the jailed folder.

Thanks for the help! That's great information. I'm going to have to send this to myself as a note for future use and so I can pass it out. I can't really test it right now because my FTP client keeps kicking in for me. I'll test it out next time I'm on my schools computer next time I'm in class on campus. I'm sure
