I wanted to know if the hosting provided is covered........

Well, I was looking to make a gaming website within the next few weeks, so I'm looking for some decent hosting at a great price and I found surpasshosting, great rates and good prices.

Now, I recently came from godaddy/ hosting, horrible, never will I fall for such a trick, anywho, I'm looking to use a cms, titled customcms, can be found www.customcms.net , and the requirements are:

:
Quote:
What server requirements need to be met to run the software

<A class=reg_text>A: The following need to be running on your server for the cms to function properly:

ionCube Loaders - Required for the cms to function
GD2 image library - Required for image thumbnails to function
Apache mod_rewrite - Required for SEO friendly url's
allow_url_fopen Enabled
PHP4 / PHP5 & MySQL 4.x or higher
I already know that PHP, MySQL is available, however I wanted to know if ioncube comes pre-installed or do I have to personally install it via the php.ini file?

I heard that either;
Quote:
You will need it installed by either your host, or if you get the right to edit the php.ini file, you'll be able to install it yourself.
Also, I wanted to know what hosting plan I should purchase, cause i'm looking for a website that can support a large community.

Thank you,

Allen

GD2 Image Library and IonCube php Loaders are supported. However, allow_url_fopen is disabled as discussed in this thread.

I believe that if you are going for a game site that is going to be famous and gets loads of traffic, you should be looking at VPS or a DEDI.

Good luck with your site

As Edwin mentioned, if you are planning on having a large community, you definitely want to go with a VPS or dedicated. MySQL connections are limited to 15 on a shared server. Anything over 50-100 members you might start running into MySQL connection issues.

As long as that larger community does not have that many active members all the time, you might be alright to start out with a shared though, and upgrade as the need comes up.

Welcome to Surpass!

You should not be using any application that requires allow_url_fopen because they do not have security in mind and are really contributing to the mass problems on the net today. I suggest to find another program.

You can always start out with a shared account and upgrade as needed.

Thanks to everyone for helping with these questions!
