I just signed up for a reseller account. Everything went fine I think. I have access to WHM and my cPanel or whatever. I got an email with subject "checklist" for transfering my name servers to Surpass name servers. Cool so far. However, I don't know what to do with the others I will be hosting. I was able to make a package and create an account, so that's nice. But, I never got a Reseller Email, and I don't exactly know what to do with changing the name servers of my other domains. Any help? Is there any Surpass-based web page I should know about or be logged on to? When should I receive that Reseller Email? Thanks in advance.

Eddie

Do you have a plan with custom DNS? First read the All About Custom DNS tutorial here in the forum, in the Tutorials board. Then we can go from there.

I have the Bronze Reseller Package. Doesn't that include it? I think so. I think my question is more of "how do I get those I will host going with their stuff?" I have successfully created packages and accounts, and when I go to the temporary address, it works. But, I noticed that their IP is the same as the one I was issued. Is this correct? I don't know enough about DNS usage yet to know how it just works, and it just may work. I know how to adjust the name servers on their respective registrars or whatever, and that it takes up to three days to propogate, but do I just set it to the name server that I had and was issued by the script to create the account? Thanks for all the help, sorry to be annoying.

Eddie

Yes, you have custom DNS.

Your clients can use the DNS of the server or your custom DNS.
Either will work (that is if you properly register your custom DNS... if you never did it before it might be safe to first tell your clients to set their DNS to the default ones in the email.)

No matter what, forever, they can access the site by IP

http://ipaddress/~username/

and so can you.

And no matter what you can log into WHM via:
http://ipaddress:2086

And you and also your clients can log into cPanel via:
http://ipaddress:2082

No you are not annoying. :assim:

Alright, superb. What, then, is the proper method for setting up the custom DNS?

Thanks for not finding me annoying. Give it time though, this is only day one. :afro:

OK, I think I'm starting to get the jist of this. I searched through my cPanel looking for an area to define custom DNS names. So I guess that I don't have it, and that's the end of it. Settled then - and thanks for the help.

There's nothing in the cPanel you have to do. Why did you think that?

You have to register custom DNS at your registrar, just like the link I pasted to you talks about.

THe server is already set up to use your DNS, you just have to register it.

Nothing to do with the cPanel and nothing in that link mentions going into the cPanel.
