What´s the best dedicated server for my site?

Hello guys. I hope you can help me.

I´m looking for a fully managed server for a web site with a 40 gb of monthly transference. I think the transference will increase in the future. What would be the best option for my site?

Thanks in advance,

That really depends on what kind of bandwidth that is.. Is it streaming media, is it a forum, blog or anything that uses a lot of mysql/php? Things like these help in the decision making process..

Also how much are you looking to spend a month?

It´s a forum using vBulletin. It has 1,5 gb of daily transference, and we think it´s going to be more real soon.

How much we are going to spend... good question. Could you give me an idea of the lowest and highest prices for my situation?

Thank you!

Before I do that, how many active users do you have on there? daily, at one time.. all that, because that will effect your options also

We have almost 6000 registered users. At one time we have a maximum of 100-250 on line users.

We have 600-700 new posts per day, 6000 visits per day, being 3000 visits from different IPs per day. We have 20000 page views.

See those are the kinds of details that really bring to light the kind of power you will need in a server. Saying 40gb bandwidth per month doesn't really let you know what kind of traffic it is.

With a forum like that you will need a lot of RAM and a strong processor. Deciding on things like this is not at all my specialty so I will have to speak to some of our dedicated server crew to see what they think.

At the same time you can submit a ticket to our sales division and they will also forward the ticket to the dedicated server team. Once you have done that you can post the ticket ID here and I will have our dedicated server team reply back to you in that ticket so you can speak to them directly and more privately about costs and all those options

You are not required to create an account to submit a ticket

100-250 simultaneous users is pretty serious stuff. From personal experience, I would get at least an Intel Pentium D, AMD Athlon X2, or Intel Core 2 Duo (this would be the most powerful of the 3) CPU and at least 2GB RAM. Getting two hard disks is a good idea, too, for backups. Good luck!
