Where to put files?
Probably one of the most basic questions ever;
What is the default directory to put files in to display over HTTP? I tried public_html (www just links to that folder anyways) but I can't access files that I put in there through FTP over HTTP. Is it just a line that needs to be changed in htaccess? All that shows now when I go to my sites address is a directory listing with just cgi_bin |

Figured out what was up. I needed to specify my username in the URL
e.g. http://12.34.56.78/~username |

New Question: I'm installing a CMS (ModX for those who are curious) and as I'm going through the installation, when it goes to a new page, I get prompted for my webmail login (and I havent even set it up yet)
Any ideas as to why this is happening? |
