So basically you need to be able to stream videos from your website so that you can watch them while they are transferring. Well, I use this: http://www.jeroenwijering.com/?item=JW_FLV_Player

To play flash videos that I put on my site: http://www.markheadrick.com/dvd/Transformers.shtml as an example.

I use the free Riva FLV encoder to create them locally before uploading: http://rivavx.de/index.php?encoder&L=3

It's not as easy a process as just embedding youtube videos or something but you do have more control over the resolution, bitrate, etc..

Okay... Umm, let's try to simplify things.

Picture a video as a series of JPEG images (typically 29.97 per second). A bitrate is going to determine the quality of the video, similar to JPEG compression. The lower the bitrate, the smaller the file size, and consequently, the lower the quality. Depending on how you made the video file, it may not be using any optimization and a high bitrate.

Not sure what kind of computer you have, but you should be able to export the video file with web optimization. On a Mac and iMovie 08 you can do a quick export as "Mobile" or a Quicktime Export and choose one of the speed optimizations. I'm sure and Windows or Linux equivalents have options for web exporting as well.

Thanks Mark, this is exactly what I wanted... only difference was that I had to find a different program to convert to flv, as I'm on a mac, but it works great . Thanks!

Now to play with it so that I can figure out how to get the white band at the bottom of the video out of there... hehe
