Time for changes in WP?

This is my first site, so I really don't know what I'm doing. I read some of the FAQ that WP has on their site, and I thought I knew what I was doing.

I found a theme I wanted to use for my WP, but I wanted to change the link colors. I changed the colors in the style sheet. But, this was after I had put the original folder in my /themes folder. I went back and (I assumed) overwrote everything with the new stuff.

I checked the site then to see if the color changes had happened, and they hadn't. The theme is there and working, but it's with the default colors.

Did I do something wrong in trying to put the new stylesheet in, or is there just a wait time for changes to show up?

Assuming you're using FTP, you put the new files into the specific folder and overwrited the style sheet correct? Well, one it COULD be your cookies, but usually this only happens for images. Are you sure you edited the right part in the styesheet? Have you tried changing some other things to see if it works. Usually you should be able to see the changes instantly, so I do not know exactly what the problem might be, but those are my few suggestions, since I use Wordpress myself.

Yes, I put the new files into the specific folder and overwrote the stylesheet.

I was messing around in WP and found that I could edit the stylesheet while in WP, so I've been doing that, and I'm seeing changes.

Which fixes things for now, but hopefully I'll learn to do it right with FTP as well.

Great, I suppose it might have been just playing the waiting game for a bit. =)

If you have anymore problems, please do not hesitate to post here.

After you update the file(s) in question you must also clear your browser cache so that you get the newer version of the file(s). Otherwise you are just seeing the cached version from you computer.
