Fatal Error? Help?

Hi. I am very new to this. I just downloaded Wordpress by way of Fantastico and I keep getting this error when I go to my Admin page:

"
Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home/shameles/public_html/wpdirectory/wp-includes/widgets.php on line 765

I am really not sure what's going on or how to resolve this? Any ideas?

Okay. I deleted wordpress and attempted to reinstall and now I get a message telling me that I cannot install because:
"You cannot install more than one script in the root directory of a domain."

are these issues related?

I see the same thing, I think it has to do with PHP memory size as its capped at 8MB. A way to increase it would be wonderful.

Could you all please provide us with URLs where you see these errors? We are making some server wide changes so I'd like to be able to test this out.

Thanks!

Dan,

I run phpBB 3.0.0 and its happens in Admin Control Panel (ACP). I can provide a screenshot or you can sign up and I'll make you an admin and tell you where to replicate it.

Are you saying create a blank php.ini in the root of my forum (in my case) and put the above code in?

Thanks.
