Question problems with ftp-accounts...

hi everyone!

my name is vertigo, i am a new user here.
i do not have much to do with surpass, but i was ask to take over a site which is hosted here. due to lesser knowledge with all this, i have a question about ftp-accounts, maybe somebody here can help...

i need a new ftp-account, and created one with the cpanel. everythings seems fine, i used the main-password and set a directory where the files can be uploaded.
but when i try to test the new account, i always get an error,

530 login authentification failed

i have checked everything, pass is right, user is right, but it doesn't work. but even the anonymus login fails, i can only access with the main-account.

who has an idea what went wrong?

thanks in advance,

cheers, vertigo

Alright in Cpanel, you went to FTP accounts, created a new username and password? Then when you went to the FTP program of choice you put in the information and it did not work? That is strange?

Here are a few suggestions on how to solve this.

1. Make sure you are in Passive mode
2. Unlike the main user, when logging into a alternative FTP account the login user will always be usernamedomainame.com
3. Re-write the password
4. Make sure the host name/address is correct: ftp.domainname.com
5. Submit a ticket to support in regards to this situation.
