[Answered] Database problem.

I have a problem and I don't really know how to describe it here, but I'll try:

I've been trying to install this affiliates script called, Affiliationally, and I've been having problems getting it to work. I've tried to sort them out with Martina (author of the script), and we've nearly run out of ideas as to why the script doesn't work.

Out of several experiments, we've noticed that the script gets database errors when the config.php file is placed in a subdomain folder. It only works when placed in the root domain folder, or when it is placed inside the same folder with the add.php file (the file that calls for it) and the form that uses the script.

It really is weird since the script works for everyone else. It works even for Martina in her subdomain folder, who is a Surpass client herself, and is hosted on SH100. She suggested that I should ask support why it doesn't work with mine, but I wasn't sure how to put it in words... so I decided to post here instead.

My question remains: Why do I get database errors when the config file is placed in a subdomain folder?

Thank you in advance.

If you are trying to get this to work with a subdomain then all of the files associated with it need to be in that subdomain's folder or below (ok, well, there are exceptions). I suspect some kind of pathing problem somewhere where it can't find a file it needs. Absolute file paths will remain the same. As long you are using the same database name, user, and password, not sure why it would matter where the script was located, unless the config.php contained a setting that told it what URL it should be using as it's home.

Hard to say without seeing the errors message and the file itself to see what kind of pathing, url or other settings might be in it. The link you gave to the script does not seem valid.
