[Answered] Alias email accounts
Hello everyone.
I am moving my website over from an ensim host (not cpanel). In ensim I was able to setup Alias email accounts that autoforwarded to a different account. This alias email didn't really exist so you could not log into it, and it didn't store any emails. This was I could give out 20 different email accounts to contests and websites I didn't trust and then have them all come to my main account. If the one of the 20 alias email accounts started to get spammed, I would just delete it. I see that I can have forwarding on an account, but it also saves the email... which means I have to delete it every now and then... Is there an easier way? ![]() |

I think I might have found a work around... I have to give some time and thought to see if there are any problems with this work around, perhaps you can give me a heads up if I should or should not do this.
I entered in my forwards. Hey1 domain.com forwards to Hey domain.com. Even though hey1 domain.com doesn't exist. My fear was that then the email would try to land in a hey1 domain.com email box (as well as copied to hey domain.com) and since hey1 domain.com doesn't exist then there would be an autoreply "---- Failed Recipients ----" email back to user...My solution... I changed the default email account, the one that takes on all unknown email accounts "The default email address will "catch" any mail that is sent to an invalid email address for your domain. All mail that is sent to an address that does not exist will go to the default email address" -=- Under advanced settings, I change the default email as "Discard (Not Recommended)" |

You can setup a forwarder and not have the inbox created. The sending user will not get a bounced back. As long as there is not an email account setup for the Hey1
domain.com, then nothing will be saved to the server. So you can have your new account setup the same way you had it setup previously. Let me know if you have any questions about this.
