A question!
I was reading the terms of service and everything around it because I'm looking for information about mp3's. I don't believe I have found my answer so I'm going to ask.
I wanted to add a radio (not a radio blog, but a music player) on my site. The songs are in .mp3 format, but I wasn't sure if I should upload any. Am I allowed to upload mp3's if I'm not redistributing them? Like if I'm just using them for a radio and nobody can download them? I want to be sure before I run and do it. I don't want to terminate my account because of a music player. O_O

Is the music your own original content? If so, it should be just fine. If not, unfortunately it won't work out.

Nope, it's not my own original stuff. I just paid for it. It's Harry Potter music.
Boooo! Okay. ![]() Thanks for letting me know!

It actually depends on the licence of the music. There are lots of cool tunes available on the Creative Commons licence.
And if the player is locked so only you can access it and it's not a public broadcast then your also fine. Anything else and your RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) may want some money. There is nothing stopping you from going to say...... SHOUTcast | Free internet radio! and finding details for a live web stream and then playing it through your website, This is then covered under their licence I believe. There maybe plenty of cool web stations playing your sort of music. |
