I'm noticing something rather strange. My girlfriend and I are on the same wireless network, so we're using the same ISP, and the same DNS Registrars via our ISP. She cannot access www.thingie.net (on my surpasshosting), but can access http://thingie.net.

When I ping www.thingie.net with her comptuer, I get a 38.*.*.* ip, which is my last hosts cluster.

She also cannot access http://thingie.net/forum

That said, is this normal? :P

edit; NEAT! It's doing the same thing for dumpspace. I can access http://dumpspace.net but not www.dumpspace.net (or rather, I can, but it's the old server)

But! a friend of mine can access all four sites, and they look the same - so I gues it is just the DNS servers being all.. crazy.

Hi Mr. Nilo,

when i ping thingie.net or www.thingie.net I get a box on Surpass Hosting, not 38.*.* whatever

same for both variants of dumpspace.net i get a box within the Surpass zone.

your ISP probably hasn't updated it's tables. this can take up to 72 hours to propagate.

try flusing your DNS cache.

Regards,
M

I understand how it all works, I promise. But what struck me as odd is that between three computers, and three browsers, I couldn't find any bit of consistancy. It was STRANGE. Anyway, it all seems to be working now. both sets of thingie and dumpspace resolve. so...

I got it to work and look right after ~5 or so hours of editing the .css files

Because I don't wanna start another thread; you guys PROMISE my site will shut down when my bandwidth is reached? Dumpspace has already used "4062.80 Megabytes" since yesterday at noon. I'd really not like to be charged out the yang

"5358.55 Megabytes"! heh. I'm glad it'll shut down. I was using upwards of 300-500 gigs a month on my other hosts which is an obnoxious amount of bandwidth. Can I set up a custom "I'm sorry, but you guys have sucked me dry" sorta thing?
