Assist Pls (nubie)

New User: i have established domain and hosting with Surpass. (which came HIGHLY recommended by friend)

As best i can ascertain, there is little i can do til the system "resolves". As i understand it, since i registered the domain with Surpass, i do not need to do anything to resolve DNS...is that correct? Will i be notified or should i keep checking CPanel? TIA......Lee

Now for a really stupid AOL-ass question....What do i use to set up webpage? i assumed upon signing on, that Surpass offers SOMEthing other than Frontpage that works well with server. i understand FP is a bear....

Lee, first off welcome to Surpass. Yes, the word is out and you are in the right place for the best in web hosting.

You can access you can access site using the IP address/~username provided in the confirmation email when you signed on for web hosting.

question - did you adjust your domain record to the correct DNS servers indicated in the confirmation email? After you do that - the entries will begin to propogate. Depending on your luck, this will take from 24-72 hours. at that time anyone, anywhere can reach your site by the domain name.

which brings me to my final question - what is your domain name, and what server are you on? Please update your signature in your forum profile for future reference. It just saves time.

Last but not least, there are a number of CMS systems included with scripta - you can install them through cPanel. You can also if you feel daring build the whole site from scratch. It's all up to you.

Attn: Sam...

Sam....

Thanks for the speedy response.

In reference to your reply:

i followed the directions and confirmed that the DNS was on the servers shown below. When i went to check at SupassDomain.com....the dialog box Domain Management shows the following:

Not using our nameservers

To delete a record, simply vacate the fields and save.
To edit a record, simply overtype the text and save.

Problem is, There are no fields to alter....

my domain is: Lsummertonmorgan.com:

dns19.surpasshosting.com

dns20.surpasshosting.com

It's no problem.

Your site is accessible for me using the domain name You need to put up a index.htm or an index.php file in public_html, so it doesn't show what it's showing now. It can be a simple file that says - Under Construction.

I edited your post - removing the IP addresses you mentioned. Other than that I left it as is. Just for future reference - dont post full IPs in the forum. It's not big deal, you wouldn't know that unless someone mentioned it.

Is the site accessible for you using the domain name yet? If not it will be, it just takes time to propagate.
