Avatars
I set up my forum and got it going just fine, so the members started selecting their avatars with no problem, the avatars were showing in the post, I had to add an avatar to the image list because a member could not upload an avatar
here are my questions: 1. when someone wants to upload an avatars what should the path be to store the new image. 2. when in the profiles the display avatars shows an empty page, nothing has been deleted. I hope this is enough info needed to get an answer Roger |

Hi,
I am not sure exactly what you are asking, but I will try to help you. When you are logged in to Surmunity.com with your registered username and password, go to "User CP" and click the "Edit Avatar" button the side. From there, you will be able to upload your customized avatar. To do so, simply click the "Browse.." button and select the file from your computer. Make sure the avatar picture you are uploading is 50 x 50 pixels and is not larger then 19.5KB in space. Or, you may directly hotlink an avatar picture from another website, but again, the same rules apply, either it be 50 x 50 and nothing larger then 19.5KB (it can be smaller then 50 x 50, but 50 x 50 pixels is the maximum supported). Good luck! |

You are quite welcome.
Please be specific as to which forum you have set up, and if you don't mind, can you please update your signature with the server name your domain name is on as well as your domain name? This will tremendously help us when we are trying to assist you. :-) |

On my site the display avtars isn't showing the avatars.
members get the error Warning: copy(./modules/Forums/images/avatars/1538950215408da086903ee.gif): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /home/lwsr49b/public_html/LoneWolf/includes/usercp_avatar.php on line 264 when they try to upload an avatar. this is my first web site and all of this is new to me, so be patient with me Thanks

Well, that is better. Thank you for providing the error message. That error message, "Permission denied", means that you will need to CHMOD the appropriate files/directories to allow public access. This can be done by CHMOD'ing the files to either 666 or 777. As I am not familiar with phpNuke or the forum that it includes, you may need to wait for someone else to specifically tell you which directories or folders to CHMOD. But, the error is definitely a permissions mal-CHMOD'ed file or directory which can be easily fixed. From a guess, I would assume you have to CHMOD /public_html/LoneWolf/includes/usercp_avatar.php to 777. You may try that, and test if it works then.
Please reply back with the results. |

RpImpala,
:surpass: Welcome to Surpass! I like your site and wanted to share something I found. Since your signature doesn't have your site set up as a link yet, I had to enter it in by hand. At first it didn't work because I was entering it in all lower case letters as most everything on the net is done. You have it named /LoneWolf. While domain names are usually not case sensitive, directory names are. If you are planning on keeping your PostNuke site under that directory, you may want to create a sub called/lonewolf that redirects to /LoneWolf just so that you don't lose anyone along the way. IMHO YMMV
