Need Help :) DNS?
I found a domain I wanted but it was only available in www.domain.nl. I registered it and received confirmation. I then setup hosting with Surpass.
Everything appears to be up and running but I need some setup help. The Domain site control panel allows me to manage the domain and forward it to an IP or addy but I there are no DNS settings. I forwarded the domain to my Surpass temporary address of ip/~userid. When I go to my website I see the index.html file I created but the browser does not show my domain name. It just shows the ip/~userid. If I forward it to the IP that Surpass gave me I just get "There is no website configured at this address." My guess is user error here. Is there something in the control panel I need to set? Is this a DNS issue? I have always hosted my own websites so forgive my ignorance  Thanks for the help! |

1 - look for name server settings. You don't want to 'forward' any thing.
2 - propagation of the name (where people can find you by name and not IP) takes 24-72 hours. John

Thanks for the help.
I did a whois on my domain and the dns settings look like the below.. Domain nameservers: ns.routing.net 213.160.64.64 ns8.routing.net 213.160.65.64 These are not the IPs provided by Surpass. Unfortunately I do not have the option to change these from my domain name login. I am guessing this is the problem I need to resolve? |
