jess-

do you have a hotmail / yahoo email account? if so, go to desk.surpasshosting.com. You can open a ticket there, and use the yahoo/hotmail account as your email address in the ticket.

It may be something how your Outlook Express is set up. Make sure in your accounts setting you have "My server requires authentication" under the Outgoing Mail Server clicked. If you're only getting an error when you're trying to send out, that's most commonly the issue. Or if it is clicked, try unclicking it. I've never had trouble with an actual email server through all the hosts I've been on, simply how I've tried to set up through Outlook.

Once you have successfully created an e-mail address from cPanel, simply open up Outlook Express and follow the instructions I have provided for you below:

1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2. Select the "Mail" tab.
3. Click the "Add" button.
From the Add menu, click "Mail."
3. In the text box labeled Display Name, type your name and click "Next."
4. In the Email Address box, type your full e-mail address (e.g., "youyourdomain.com" -- make sure you replace yourdomain.com with your web address).
5. Select "POP3" to answer the question "My incoming mail server is a…."
6. Type "mail.yourdomain.com" in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box. (Replacing yourdomain.com with your web address)
7. Type "mail.yourdomain.com" in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.
Click "Next." (Again, replacing yourdomain.com with your web address)
8. In the Account Name box, type your full e-mail address (e.g., "youyourdomain.com" -- make sure you replace yourdomain.com with your web address).
9. In the Password box, type the password which you have set in cPanel for the e-mail account you are setting up.
*If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the "Remember password" box.
10. Do not check the "Log on using secure password" box.
11. Click "Next."
12. Click "Finish."

NOW:
1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2. Select the "Mail" tab.
3. Double-click the account labeled "mail.yourdomain.com" (instead of yourdomain.com, you will see your web address).
4. Select the "Servers" tab.
5. Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
6. Click "OK."

Jessicka, I've posted the instructions above as to how to set it up. Please try re-configuring it and see if you have any luck. If the e-mail address doesn't work AFTER you have re-configured it using my directions provided above, please be specific and tell us the error you are getting so we will know how to further help you. Thank you!
