I'm shared but my accounts on a reseller server?
Hello,
During the buy-one-get-one free promotion, I got a new domain. I used ping mydomain.com in Windows' Run and found out that that new domain is on a Resellers server, more specifically the Mac server. I remembered registering for a shared account (for both the new and free account). So what does being on a resellers server mean and how is it different from a shared server? Thanks! P.S. By the way, is statuscenter.net down? I can't access the website. |

Occasionally, Surpass will put some shared accounts on a reseller server and some reseller accounts on some shared servers. In fact, my domain name, charminghost.com, which is on a reseller plan, is on "Romeo", which is a shared server.
Technically, this doesn't effect the way your website runs, as the "reseller servers" are still shared. They are just shared amongst other resellers and their clients (or, the people/domain names that they host). So, either way, it all comes down to both servers being shared. ![]() www.statuscenter.net is working for me. What this domain name basically does is just foward to the URL http://www.surpasshosting.com/status/stats/stats.php, which is where you will find the status of all of the servers. |

statuscenter.net is up and running.
accounts are placed where there is space. the main difference between a reselling account and shared hosting account is the availability of WHM to resellers which allows the reseller to create nifty and orderly packages for reselling the space. So Steve yes - everything is really "shared". |
