not really sure
I'm honestly not sure if you'd see any difference between surpass and HostDime. I would somewhat think so.
Although I can't speak out of experience with HostDime, I can speak for Surpass. These guys offer you some pretty spiffy services and support for the prices that you would pay. I compared some of their dedicated offers to a well known hosting provider, and it would have costed me a few thousand more than what I'm paying at Surpass. So I believe these guys on top of it concerning the competitiveness<sp?>. Support...Surpass brings a whole new level to the topic. You will probably never find a hosting company that provides you so many resources of support, especially if you're a dedicated user. These guys are generally on top of things. I've yet to bring them an issue that they haven't been able to resolve. I'm still looking for something that will give them the "challenge" that they request. I think you'd definately be satisfied with Surpass Hosting for your dedicated needs. Give them a try, or browse the forums to see what other people think.

This should be enough to sell Surpass: Surpass has better looking administrators. (Well, I know what two of us look like anyway.) :hiding: G

To help with server admin, I use Webmin (http://webmin.com). It automates many shell commands and is updated frequently.

They sort of serve two different purposes. WebMin does have a module, called VirtualMin, that will create users, websites, DNS zones, ftp users, email accounts and such, but is not as user friendly or commercially oriented as cPanel. For instance, it's not really setup for resellers. However, it's strong points are geared towards Apache config, FTP, BIND, and uploading and intalling RPM's, so it makes life a little easier. cPanel is really geared more towards the commercial side and does an excellent job in the customer control panel area. The two programs can co-exist, with the only issue being the mail system. WebMin doesn't have modules for cPanel pop and the MTA.
You can do everything that WebMin does using the shell, but WebMin allows you to do it quicker and is more convenient. |
