Greymatter problems!
Well I am not so sure if this question goes here since I have had my account for almost one year. However, I just installed Greymatter because I found out we were allowed to have it after all.
I've re-installed it TWICE! I don't know what the problem is, but I constantly get 500 internal server error page when I click on the "comments" link. The proof is here : http://www.midnightkiss.org. Simply click on the ( 0 ) green link and you'll see. I've CHMOD-ed everything with the right numbers and even put in the code that is recommended to add in gm-comments.cgi on this page. I'd really appreciate some help, I'm really tired of this. Thanks !! ![]() |

hmmm odd.... the link resolves to:
http://www.midnightkiss.org/cgi-bin/...1.htm#comments do you actually have the page at that location (note the path by mousing over the link)?

Check your error log through Cpanel. It most likely will just tell you that it is a "Premature End of Script" error or something like that, but it may reveal some information. Also, goto http://www.greymatterforums.com/index.php as they could probably walk you through the installation a little better and help you troubleshoot the problem.

does greymatter install in your CGI Bin directory? That's odd.

What's wrong with that? Movable-type does that too.
But I suggest WordPress, I switched over and I find I'm not going to be switching back.

I don't know what's up with that. I've always been #1 when installing Greymatter, I'd never had any problems until now. However I browsed through the Greymatterforums.com posts and realized that with the new version, you have to put certain files/folders outside the cgi-bin. Which is lame. It still doesn't work 100% - my smilies do not show up anywhere, not even in red X's or anything, they're just gone. I have checked the paths and uploaded them several times to make sure, but still nothing. SO ODD! lol.
I'm guessing that maybe something is wrong with Surpass or my server (Mango) for this to be happening, because even my comments wouldn't pop-up, I had to use a code from a tutorial site. The pre-written GM code for the comments pop-up wasn't working. Meh, I'm tired of it already so I am leaving it as-is and just posting lol. If anyone has any more advice though, please do post it!! |
