Message Board Installation Questions
Although the installation of phpBB is in my control panel, I do NOT want to use phpBB. I'm currently a member of a message board that is using it and we are having major issues with everyone getting blank white pages when trying to access the board.
Well, now that I have the space and bandwidth through surpass, I offered to host the board. I intend on buying vbulletin, but I want to make sure that it can be installed on this server, and I wanted to ask if there was anything I needed to do prior to installing it? I ask this because yesterday I tried to publish my web using frontpage before installing frontpage extensions via the control panel, and I ended up removing the public_html folder...which was a "no, no" I just don't want to do something stupid like that when trying to install the vbulletin Also, does anyone know how user-friendly the vbulletin board is for a beginner? I don't know anything about scripting or even html (frontpage, remember :p )... I'm a little concerned that I am getting in over my head I'd appreciate if anyone has any feedback. |

I can tell you that VBulletin will install on the server -- Surmunity is using it.
As for ease of use -- Couldn't personally tell you about the admin/control part, but the user part seems relatively simple enough. |

Sure ya look smart, at least you decided to ask rather than try it out and complain if it didn't work. And unless you actually looked at the bottom of the page you would have no knowing whether the forum used Vbulletin or not.
No prob though -- sometimes we just need a push in the right direction. |
