Jeff,

Your account was suspended for the following reason:

mysql abuse average connection up to 40 load of the server went too high


There was no response after that back to Andrew.

I will respond to the ticket now, let me know if you get the responses.

So basically you were responded to within an hour, not a day, and it looks like they emailed you as well when the account was suspended. You were not ignored, we do not ignore anyone, especially if their site is suspended, that is a serious matter. This is either something going wrong with the helpdesk, or your alternate email. I do not know which.

Sorry to see what happened. Didn't realize you had a site here, or I would have stopped by and said hello.

I can assure you that my experiences with support have been really good, and any problems you may have had are the exception, not the rule.

Looks like something in either xoops or mambo went haywire, assuming you aren't running other scripts.

Can't speak to mambo (I'm a xoops kinda guy), but what xoops modules are you running?

Hi Teq-

Perhaps the problem is that the responses were going to my (inaccessible) newshax account. I haven't seen any responses yet to the email account I specified but that could potentially be for different reasons. I appreciate your looking into this. I wouldn't know about the general timeliness of replies at Surpass because I haven't had to use Surpass tech support until now, everything has been fine so far which is a good thing. Actually my shared Surpass package beats the pants off the CI-Host dedicated server I had previously, response times have been much faster.

I run many xoops modules john, probably more than I can recall right now-
Do you feel the problem related to database connections not being terminated properly or is it just related to high volume? My traffic goes up and down according to who happens to link to a story, it can be as low as 200 visitors in a day or as many as 10,000. Is the problem that the site is too busy for this server during peak times? If that is the case I'll move it to another company, I just need access to my files and email.

You can check the replies at http://desk.surpasshosting.com, if you have the ticket key.. it should have automatically be emailed to whatever email you sent the problem from. When it's a problem with a domain not working, you should always try to use a non-related email address (such as gmail or an isp email)

Surpass will work with you to solve the problem, so you don't need to switch hosts. They run a great system of semi-dedicated servers, where for a bit higher of a cost, you're on a server with just 4-5 other people, so there are less people taking for the system, making it work better.

We would not send emails to an address related to a suspended domain.
You used the email address of your ISP (it appears, or some other provider) when you sent a ticket to us, so that is why I referred to your "alternate" email address in my previous post. I have sent an email to this address earlier, but it looks you haven't received it, I have no reply. If you can please send me an email from a second alternate email, kfleming[at]surpasshosting.com

I have unsuspended the site in the meantime and will monitor the server. I can't promise that it won't be suspended again by the time you read this, so please send that email to me using a second alternate email account.

That is what my email was about, if this site usage is going to keep up like this, then you would need to move to a semi-dedicated server, prices start at $35 per month. This same issue would happen with any other host, but we provide more affordable solutions than just trying to get you to buy a dedicated server when truly you don't need one at this point.
