I *think* that Mailman is also *not* backed up by cPanel.... that includes the archives and the address lists. This was my experience when i moved from another host to here. I ihad to do a pick of creative problem solving to get my Mailman lists transferred over.

I do have back ups of all my files. The only thing I'm concerned about, it's the forums. I didn't back up those.
And yes, I understand that they cannot be held responsible for files that I lose...BUT if it wasn't MY fault, they DO have to respond. I understand what happened with their hard drive but that was THEIR problem. If something had happened to MY computer, obviously I wouldn't be expecting them to have a day to day back up. And then it would be MY fault. I didn't have a back up of my forums, 'cause I didn't think I needed to. Stuff like that never happens to me. So they do have the obligation to help me because it wasn't my fault, and they have to be prepared for when stuff like this happens. After all, I am paying, you know... |

They did help you. You said they had a backup right? It is YOUR responsibility to take steps in order to have copies of your own data, be it your forums, images, database, pages, etc. The problem wasn't their fault either unless they did something intentional to make it happen, which more than likely isn't the case. A hardware failure is the fault of the hardware maker, not the person owning the machine. If my soundcard dies, it's not my fault, it's Creative's fault. ALL webhosts that I have ever come across tell you to back up your stuff.

I agree with djsckizo. If I had data that was as critical as yours sounds to be, I would be backing up a few times a day. Even if
