Subdomains Location
This is a question on how the subdomains are handled. When I create a new subdomain it creates a folder in my main WWW directory to store the info. For example:
http://www.phantoms-opera.com/music But the subdomain also creates: http://music.phantoms-opera.com I don’t like having it load in both places. How could I change this? Last edited by The Phantom; May 6th, 2005 at 5:46 PM.. |

You cannot. That's how the subdomains are set up.
music.yourdomain.com is really just a pointer to www.yourdomain.com/music

I liked how it was set up on my old web host. Each folder was located in the /www/ or /public_html as normal, but each subdomain and domain had a folder like:
/www/phantoms-opera.com /www/music.phantoms-opera.com Each one was like a different site really. ![]() |

Yeah, it's pretty cool that way, but what can you do... :/

If you want people to view your site as the subdomain, and not the directory, you could setup a redirect.
ex. http://www.phantoms-opera.com/music redirects to: http://music.phantoms-opera.com Other than that, nothing else you can do. |

DON'T mix subdomains with redirects! That's one sure way to confuse the heck out of Cpanel.
