ffmpeg help

Hi i want to install ffmpeg onto the server so i can use the video upload options in gallery2 from gallery.menalto.com. For me to be able to do this it requires ffmpeg to be installed on the server. I got ffmpeg from sourceforge but i dont know how to install it. the install read me file that came with it says,
"1) Type './configure' create the configuration (use './configure
--help' to have the configure options).

'configure' can be launched from another directory than the ffmpeg
sources to put the objects at that place. In that case, use an
absolute path when launching 'configure',
e.g. /ffmpegdir/ffmpeg/configure.

2) Then type 'make' to build ffmpeg.

3) Type 'make install' to install ffmpeg and ffserver in
/usr/local/bin."

Can someone please tell me where to perform these commands? Thanks.

login to your server through ssh, or if you find this to hard you could always email support to do it for you

[You'll probably need to have a dedicated for this]

Gallery is completely different software.

I don't use Coppermine any more, but I know that you can set it up to accept any file extension. Coppermine video files just show up as the video itself in the window when it's opened. It doesn't make a thumbnail though, just uses a premade image to show that the file is a video, until you click on it and then it opens.

I believe it streams into the window from what I remember. I used to use it on Sidebreak.com, but we never really used it for much more than images.
