search engine submission

It has been a very long time since I submitted a website to the search engines.
I seem to remember that there is a easy way to do it through the cpanel. I have not been able to find it in there though. Can someone direct me please?

Thanks!! wiggle

creating back-ups

I have been searching the data-base for instructions and tips on creating website backups. i have not found what I am seeking. I am looking for basic instructions, i.e... (website backup 101) if you know of a link or can help please respond.

Thanks, wiggle

For search engine submitting, that ability was taken out of the cPanel. I am not sure why, but I would assume that it did not do a very good job, since it can look like an automatic submission (which it is), and I don't think that the search engings like that. You can still always manually submit your site to the major search engines.

For backups, you can use the backup link in cPanel to create backups of just the home directory, databases, and a full backup. Usually it is best practice to just keep the files on the server synchronized with files on your computer, and maybe do a full backup once a month or so (since this can use a lot of server resources for large sites)
