Found the info below in this post in the email forum:

Quote:
You and your users will notice that the exim line in the System Status in cPanel and WHM now looks different:

exim (exim-4.52-15_cpanel_maildir)

You've got maildir active on your server.
To get to the page he mentioned, log into cPanel. Look at the lower left hand corner of the main page and click where it says "Click to View" next to Service Status. On SH93, the exim line currently says "exim (exim-4.63-1_cpanel_smtpctl_av_rewrite_mm2_mmmtrap_exiscan_md 5pass)",

I suspect the answer is yes, but I want to confirm that this conversion could indeed affect the ability of a user to connect to the SMTP host.

I have been experiencing an inability to connect to the SMTP host for approximately 3 days now. I have a ticket open, and it is still unresolved.

My email stopped working sometime after 4am this morning, and it still isn't restored. That's a fair bit longer than 2-8 hours.

Also, some of my contacts have gotten in touch with me through my non-Surpass email addresses to say that email messages were being bounced back to them. Is my email being saved on the server even if that happens?

This is a little off topic, but I see some people mentioning that they have IMAP support. I thought with this shared servers all we had access to POP3?

Do we have anything like LDAP to sync contacts too?

Shared, Reseller, as well as VPS accounts all have POP3 and IMAP. Dedicated clients have it as well as long as they implement it or use Cpanel.

As far as LDAP support, I do not believe Surpass offers it as it does not integrate with Cpanel. It would require a 3rd party plug-in.

On my server, the ability to check multiple email accounts from the master account has been restored. I had to delete each account and re-create them for this to happen but just wanted to let everyone know as I haven't seen any announcements about this.

Thank you, Surpass! I'd be interested to know what you did (reverted to mbox or implemented your own solution)...
