I believe on any server with suexec enabled you can do the local php.ini

Well, initially on my server, php5 was not configured to recognize local php.ini files. One of the Unix admins had to change that. php4 did, however.

Hey, that sounds like a good idea. I'll do that then. I will create a subfolder and move the script and the ini file into it. As long as you think that will not be a security risk. Sounds like a great work around that still lets you do something while not compromising security.
