phpBB3 Gold Released

The phpBB team just released the gold version of phpBB3. A much needed update after phpBB2 being out for around 5 years now.

Read more about it and get your download links here: http://www.phpbb.com/community/viewt...?f=14&t=615945

Upgrading is simple, it installs easy, copies all your old info over, and you're done.

It's nice. In the default theme they put the user info on the right, which is weird. But it's really easy to upgrade, and I do like the new features (though still lacking compared to vBulletin I think)

My big question would be ... what happens to all your mods? I am guessing that phpBB3 does not have all the optional mods included so what happens to all the mods that people installed if you upgrade?

I personally like phpBB3 and have been awaiting the gold release for some time. I've been testing pre-releases and some of the new functions are really great, especially in the area of administration and moderation. As for modifications, unfortunately they need to be re-written for this version, just as they had to be when phpBB launched phpBB2.

Hmm. I thought phpBB would be good by now... Seems I'll stick with Beast or Vanilla for my forum needs, that is unless I code my own.
