MySQL struggling

Hi everyone, I hope someone can throw some suggestions our way to help solve a rather urgent problem we have.

We have a site which is almost crawling to a halt at times. WHM constantly shows 100% CPU usage. We are not on the slowest server in the world, infact we have just upgraded to dual-core CPUs.

We understand the problem is likely to be MySQL DB related. Our question is how do we track exactly what could be causing the CPU spikes?

Support have told us they cannot see the spikes (even though we have sent them screen dumps from in WHM). We've asked support if they can check things for us, but as they claim there is no problem I guess they are reluctant to spend much time on it.

Our developers are looking into this also but need a bit of guidance to pin-point where the problem is being generated from.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
Warrem
