If you have problems upgrading SMF Forum to v1.1.5
If you have problems upgrading your SMF Forum to version 1.1.5 and are getting something like this:
An Error Has Occurred! The package you tried to upload either is not a valid package or has become corrupted. or An Error Has Occurred! The package you are trying to download or install is either corrupt or not compatible with this version of SMF. Might try using the attached file to patch it instead. For some reason, at least on mine, the .tar.gz version of the patch would not work. Had to extract everything out and then put the files into just a .zip file. Haven't needed to do this before. Wonder if the recent server upgrades did something.

Ahh.. some more information:
The issue with installing .tar.gz packages on 64-bit systems is addressed and fixed by this update: Quote:

It seems 64 bit windows causes more problems than it's worth.
I have a 64 bit system but currently I use windows ultimate 32 bit edition mainly because most software won't work correctly on a 64 bit system.

Well, if they were referring to 64-bit Windows systems, then it should have not been a problem here since none of the servers here, at least the shared ones, run Windows. Might have been referring to 64-bit Unix systems. They don't actually specify the OS.
