Not a happy chappy!.....

Well, I came to Surpass on good recommendation from another customer, but it looks like i'm not going to be happy already - just 2 weeks after joining!

First of all, today, I logged into CPanel only to find that the red bar on the disk space section is showing red - meaning full - despite only using 40gig - even though i bought the Max package. However, this problem was immediately remedied.

NOW, I've just found out that my package has been suspended due to high server load - even though my Website is only running Vbulletin - and i specifically asked before joining up in the pre-sales questions whether Surpass were VBulletin-friendly (because I know some hosts don't like VBulletin) - and someone from Surpass said yes, VBulletin was welcome - so I've moved my site over, only to find that Surpass don't want my VBulletin site on their server after all.

I wouldn't even say my forum is big - it only has just over 1000 forum members, and there's usually no more than 7 people active at a time.

This is VERY frustrating considering a member of Surpass's staff told me that VBulletin was welcome on their shared servers.

It looks like i'll have to find another host already - after just two weeks, because the dedicated servers, which have been recommended to me in the email Surpass sent me when they said the account was suspended, is out of my budget as my site is non-profit making.

Thanks Surpass

I think you're taking what was told to you out of context. We have NO rules against vbulletin forums on our servers. We do however have rules for abusive websites on our servers.

Did you have any mods on your forums that may have caused the problem?

Your site was using as much as 90% of the CPU time on the server in a 24 hour period. We normally try to ignore this kind of abuse if it's just for a few hours or even a day, but this actually went on for 3 days.

Sorry, but it doesn't look like our shared hosting packages can give your site the resources it needs at this point.

I'm aware that Mambo was casuing a few issues at the weekend, and was subsequently taken offline because my site was very slow - however, when VBulletin was running 'solo', everything seemed OK. Perhaps you could check what days the problems were for me?

If your shared plans are not suitable for my website, perhaps a refund could be arranged - after all, I took out the plan based on the advice of Surpass staff after asking about VBulletin before I joined? Plus the 40gb limit that was in place despite paying for the Max plan.

I'm very frustrated - i've only been with you guys for 2 weeks!

Briggsy, we host thousands of vBulletin installations. We host even more Mambo installations. The problem with your site occurred due to the amount of visitors or other issues, isolated to your situation only. I understand you feel frustrated, but there are things which we cannot predict. I just don't want you to feel misled because that is not the case here. I'll get your ticket info from removed and see what happened.

Do you have any modifications installed onto the board? Remember they can cause high resource usage.

Either way, you have too much activity on your site, and no creditable shared host will take you if you consume so much CPU.
