The Surpass Moment

Ok, so I think most of us will agree that Surpass is an incredible hosting solution. And it's well documented that the support and service are top notch and you can generally rely on Surpass to keep things going smoothly. Of course there's the bad times. I can't say that everything has been great, becaues it hasn't. There have been times of frustration and anger when something hasn't worked right. Turns out a couple of those times it was actually my fault or caused by hurricanes or other unpreventable matters which the entire datacenter faced.

I'd personally like to thank everyone on Pipe for being excellent neighbours. I love sharing the server with all of you and I've yet to have any problems caused by one of you. A lot of people on shared servers don't consider their neighbours actions are just as critical as Surpass's in keeping the server running at an optimal level. A single bad script could bring down many other sites. So I'm just glad my neighbours are respectful and don't mess around with malicious stuff.

Ok, so I went off track with what I originally had planned for this post. I wanted to say that yes, Surpass is great, but people hardly mention reasons other than the cliche ones. "I like Surpass because they answer my ticket fast." Sure, that's great, but that's to be expected isn't it?

So I'm asking my fellow Surpassers to tell the story of why they personally rave about Surpass being great.

For me it's that I feel I have a sort of "home" here on Surmunity. There's the parent figures like Sam, Kayla, George, Patrick and the rest of the admins. Then the aunts and uncles like Rai, Djsckizo and the other mods. And of course the brother and sisters being the Surpass fans. The non Surpass fans are like family friends or spouses that are hopefully soon to join the family. Some members of the family don't spend a lot of time at home, and other's move away. There's a lot of reasons it's like a family, but I don't want to go off into a fantasy world and describe it all.

Other hosting companies can offer hosting similar to Surpass, but I haven't seen any that make you feel as if you're part of a family. And to me, that's been the overtime goal in the 7th game of the Stanley Cup finals to me. I love it here through the comfortable times and the rough times. We fight through and come out better each time.

Now it's your turn.

Thanks everyone.

hi,
i fully agree with you!

i´m from sweden (moved from germany in 1998), here is webhosting more restricted and expensively even in germany i cant find hosting with such potential.

i´m on the "Net" since 1983 and have lot of experiences with hosting-services, mostly realy bad and only a few god ones.

first time i read about surpass-hosting i never expect that quality, i just give it a try and signed up with a reseller acc. today i have 3 res. acc. and i´m
happy with them.
normally people say "you get what you pay for" but surpass-hosting changed
this!!! "you get more then you pay for"
ok when it comes to downtimes i´m sometimes also realy pissed-off, but then i have to think on my own 2 root-servers, and remember how much work it is to administrate them, fight against attacs nearly every day and so on.

i must say that surpass is doing a great job for us all, if i was wearing a hat i i would take it down now.

there is only one thing:
reseller and rooty-owners should have a theirs own forum/group access invisible for others. i´m close to sign-up for a rooty and i think rooty-owners
would love to have a own forum for helping each other but they wont do that
on a open-for-all forum.

overall:
i just can say that is never a fault to sign-up with surpass-hosting.

sorry for my bad english.

Other than the obvious (they give a lot for a little yadda yadda)...

I like Surpass and Surmunity because if I see a problem *and* I can suggest a reasonable solution, there's a chance something will be done about it.

In other words, Surpass listens to constructive criticism; if not all the time then at the least way more than most e-companies.

Just remember - before you complain about a problem, have a solution to offer. This is good advice for real life too.

*cough* pass15 launches all zigs *cough*

This is what I like about Surpass:

1. If I rate a ticket as low priority, for some weird reason it gets answered on the spot.
2. The support guys have the patience of a saint. There is no ticket too dumb for them.
3. The staff as a whole show an impressive level of restraint when dealing with people that act like rude morons. I have seen at least two instances this week when staff would have been 110% justified to shred some moron to pieces, but instead dealt with the issue with kindness, restraint and professionalism.

What I don't like:

People that go to the forum to ask for a problem, and within minutes are told that they should contact support. Hours pass, the forum thread grows, and the person still refuses to contact support in the proper manner. I had that happen to me a day or two ago: I told a person to check for one thing and then go ahead and check with support. About 3 hours (and a few replies) later, he resigned himself to ask support.

Of course, that comes with the territory. I am a one-man IT show at work, so I know about the challenges of keeping an IT organization happy.

That said, I love this host.

I think what is best about Surpass is the customers. Said it before, and i'll say it again.

Surpass customers make it the hosting company it is.

Thanks for the kind approbations, patience and support.

Hmm. Would have posted a long one here right away if it weren't for the fact that i have to take my girlfriend to the hospital to get her stitched together. She had a accident and is now the owner of a nice cut in the head. She's all right though.

Will edit this post to what i intended to write when i come back. So don't delete it please.
Edit1: Surpass is really a great place to be though.

I went through 5-6 paid hosting companies before surpass. Paid more and received A LOT LESS! What I like best are the services (not the plans yes they're great and affordable but how they run the business). Yes servers will go down. Stuff happens (hurricanes, HD crashes, DOS attacks, etc.) I don't care if it's Surpass fault or not I know they're working to resolve it quickly and soon all will be well again. That is what I like it best. Plus they try harder then I've ever seen to keep you posted on server status with the server status forum announcements and the status page. It's how surpass handles the problems that continues to amaze me. They learn from mistakes/problems and become stronger and better. That's a sign of a company that has it together! Surmunity has really added a lot and makes us clients feel more like a little hosting family then just clients and that's nice. From contests to fun staffers surpass does so much for it's current clients that it's just unbelievable. Most companies only concentrate on attracting new customers so they loose sight of keeping current customers happy not surpass. They go all out to try make us happy. So keep up the good work and thank you for almost 2 years of great hosting!

I was a real amateur when I first came to Surpass.. still am actually. My previous host was my older brother. He built a server for his website and hosted all his friends and family on it. So I was getting hosting for free. However, my brother started to have issues with his 'partner' about the server. The other guy claimed to have built it and actually took the server with several popular websites (an online comic my brother does included) and locked it up in his apartment, refusing to let anyone be hosted anymore. After two months of hostage negotiations my brothers server was finally given back to him but I had already come to Surpass.

When I first signed up I was a little overwhelmed by all the control I had over my website suddenly. My brother had handled all the behind the scenes for me. If I had an issue I called him and he fixed it. Having been given all this control, I joined Surmunity and started searching the forums like crazy, learning about all the stuff I could use, along with trying out many things. I love that if I have a question, I can ask and get an answer. Support and fellow Surpassers answer my question just as fast and understanding as my brother did. It's almost as if my big brother is still looking out for my website in a way.

Surpass really is great because it's like it's own family.
