Talking Creating Your Website

So, you've found the perfect host and domain name for your website, now the real question is; how do I make it? Don't panic, we have the answer to that and many more. Creating your website for the first time can seem like a stress factor, but it doesn't have to be as long as you know what to do. First you need to come up with a plan for your web site's creation and development. Write it down or type it up, as long as you have it in front of you and editable, this process will go much smoother.

Finding a Web Designer

Your ready to create your website, but don't want to get your hands dirty in the process, no worries, that's what web designers are for! First things first; always talk it out! While web designers may know what they are doing when it comes to the creation of your site, they don't know the specifics of what you want in your head. Talking out your ideas with your chosen web designer can help transform your clean slate to an appealing design that you envisioned all along.

Saving Money and Doing it Yourself

Don't have the time or money to contact and hire a web designer to do your bidding? Not a problem, doing it yourself never became more easier. You don't have to be HTML savvy in order to make a simple site that you can call all your own. These days there are programs and applications out there that help with the website illiterate. (no offense, of course!) You just need to know which one's to look for.

Text Editing VS WYSIWYG

Now, you're probably wondering what in the world does WYSIWYG stand for? I'll tell you, What You See It Was You Get, simple as that. These programs are usually encouraged to use if you're just a beginner to HTML and the like. Programs for this would be Adobe Dreamweaver or Frontpage. Not only can you press a button an instantly the code pops out in front of you, but you are also able to see the visualization at the same time. The down side to these programs are that not all the time will you get the same visual you have in the program as you would in the browser. That's where text-editing comes in. Now here is where you would need to know at least the basics of HTML. Text-editing can be done in default Window's programs, such as, Notepad. Once saved, you are able to view them in browsers to make sure they look the way you want and also to see that they work in different browsers. A plus if you're into accessibility.

Hopefully this overview has helped you on your path to creating your website. Throughout this tutorial board, you will find many tutorials regarding a vast amount of topics that I know will help you and your website grow and succeed. Good luck!
