[Reseller] WHM Transfer
If your old host has WHM then you can transfer your account to Surpass's servers with almost no downtime. You will need to complete this walk-through within 1 hour to minimize downtime
Old Server Steps 1. First you will need to login to your old host's WHM and navigate to the DNS Functions section and select Edit a DNS Zone 2. Choose the domain/account that you wish to transfer and then hit edit. 3. The first field you will see is the SOA field that should have a value of 14400'. You must change this value to 3600. 4. Look about halfway down the page and you should see a section labeled Records. In this section you will see several fields labeled TTL. Change all the TTL values that are originally 14400 to 3600. 5. Look for the serial number and increase its value by 1 and then press Save. ...Logout... New Server Steps 1. Now, Login into your new WHM through Surpass. 2. If your website has a database then you will need to disable it for 1 hour so that the transfer can go through. Otherwise you can begin right away. 3. Go to the Section in WHM labeled Transfers, choose the first option to transfer just one account. 4. The next page will ask you for your old account's IP address, Username and Password. Enter these values and then click Setup. Surpass's Server will now connect to your old server through FTP and begin to gather up all the files/databases/email addresses & passwords in your old account. This process may take some time for very large websites, but if everything was successful you the page will notify you of a successful transaction. 5. Head to the Section called DNS Functions and select select Edit a DNS Zone. 6. Choose the account that just finished transferring and click on Edit. 7. Change the Nameservers fields to reflect your newly assigned Surpass Nameservers. 8. Edit the Serial Number by increasing it's value by 1 and then press Save. ...Logout... Final Old Server Steps 1. Finally, Log back into your old WHM account and head back to the Records Section. 2. Change every field that contains the Old IP Address of the account to the New IP Address. 3. Increase the Serial Number by 1 and click Save. Tada! That's It. If you finished in less than an hour from start to finish then you should experience no downtime whatsoever. ![]() |
