Really nice free templates

Maybe I'm biased, but they almost all (except one or two) have a template look and feel to them... you just know they're not an original design when you see them.

That's the problem I usually have with templates too. You can usually pick them out when you go to sites. They just have that templatey feel

But if you need a quick site up and don't have the time or experience to make them yourself. The average visitor wont know the difference

I kinda feel that way but see it more with those web hosting templates (flash movies of servers glowing like orbs and flying into the sky).

Don't want to start an argument here, but the hosts that use a template are often resellers who don't really care about their hosting business. Spend ~$20/mo to get a few clients to cover their costs and get a bit more... maybe enough to cover their monthly Internet bill and some random spending?
