cpanel does not let you understand what's happening. Yes, it might cut out a step or 2, but you don't see what actually gets done, and, once you USE cpanel, you have to always use Cpanel to update, etc... and that's just not for me.

In case anyone is interested, David at www.revolution.com has given me permission to pass along the following two documents:
Joomla Quick Start Guide - Red Evolution.pdf Joomla Modules User Guide - Red Evolution.pdf I wish I had the quick start guide when I first started using Joomla. Anyway, hope someone finds these useful.

Hmm, I can't really say much for this since I've never messed with Joomla to that point, but other scripts I've uploaded using the Cpanel, I was still able to edit them through FTP, as if I had uploaded it myself. Cpanel still makes the files for you and the databases as if doing it yourself. Again I cannot say for sure if Joomla does this, but for others yes.

as ive notice expense is an issue, i would take mambo over joomla.Albiet you are saying it is a small site, if in the future your content/users grow the need for add onsmay become wanted or needed. The reason i stayed away from joomla is its GNU policy which i dont quite understand but had discovered it eliminated a bridge for smf that was functional and when looking for bridges and addons of any kind there was an expense for each of them. I was able to achieve what i wanted using mambo without the expense and with the neccessary support.

it was mambo, then they wanted to make it not released under the gpl or something, so the real developers went and made joomla.
or something like that

I have downloaded Joomla and Mambo and it was just too complicated for me. I will admit the times I have played around with them they are very good. My basic problem I did not have time to mess with them so I stick with wordpress blogs lol
