Oh why didn't I see this sooner?! I've been using WHMCS for almost a year now! Saving $14 a month really adds up. Thanks surpass! Once again, you've exceeded my expectations

You won't qualify for the free WHMCS license if your domain already has an active license running on it. Support will give you the same answer as well.

Hmm I don't see why not. It would be no different than if I had cancelled my license months ago and decided to come back to the program. Can someone from Surpass verify? It doesn't make a lot of sense for Surpass to offer an incentive to SOME customers but not all, because that customer is already paying for that service, and an outside service at that. If they let us upgrade our hosting plans for any changes they make why not let us sign up for something they are offering us?

Actually, if you had canceled your license months ago, apparently you would qualify for the free license. But since you are an active paying license holder right now, you do not qualify.

Here is verification, since you didn't believe my original post:
Quote:
Hello,

Unfortunately this promotion is not valid for existing WHMCS customers.

I apologize for this inconvenience, if you have any further questions, please let us know.

I then asked if I canceled the license right now, and then tried to get it... The next reply

Hello,

Unfortunately that will not work either. When you try to sign up with the domain they will detect that you were a previous client and reject the free offer.

You may have to have had canceled the account for a few months before they allow you to register for the free license. You will have to contact WHMCS to clarify that though.

Trust me, I'm not trying to burst your bubble because I completely agree with you.. I also mentioned that their lack of clarification for the WHMCS license offer was lacking, and that they should cover every single possible base (eg: current whmcs license holders, like myself, that want to get the free license to replace their existing paid.)

Also, upgrading a hosting plan, bears no similarities to obtaining a free whmcs license. It's completely different, especially when this is going through WHMCS, which is entirely separate from Surpass.

Oh no, it wasn't that I didn't believe you. I was just trying to understand why it wasn't possible. I do know that WHMCS detects if you already have a license for a domain, but as always, there are ways around that. For risk of getting myself in trouble, I won't describe them here. From your answers that you got from support, it sounds more like an outside issue dealing with WHMCS and how they track accounts rather than Surpass. But thanks for the information! I wasn't trying to imply that you were wrong or anything.

Well, you should never be doing something to get you in possible danger... but the way around it is simple. Use a different domain

Why would you be surprised? It's just another example of the typical Surpass behavior, and how little Surpass cares about their existing customers - unless you happen to be a member of the "Surpassie Cult" that apparently has no issues with downtime, inadequate support and laughable customer service.

The WHMCS rules regarding existing licenses are straight from WHMCS, from what I understand. When I made the WHMCS promotion pages, I thought we could "trade" out licenses - and then it changed. There is likely a note about this in the WHMCS terms when you signed up if you are an existing license holder. (That you cannot cancel the license to gain one through a reseller. I do not blame WHMCS for this, but as Jordan said you can probably cancel it and wait a few months to get one through us - but I have to check how feasible that really is because things like that can jeopardize our entire relationship with WHMCS, then we have *no* offer at all.)

John, if you are frustrated about something, please post what the issues are so that we can help, instead of just calling us names and assuming reasons for our actions. That can't resolve anything.
