Great thanks...... so now that i have a license, how the heck do I get this installed on my domain so I can start using it to track packages, billing, etc?
Documentation seems to be sparse, but ad cop is plentiful.

Errrr yeah like I said....

That link didn't provide any documentation and the entire WHMCS site is annoying for its complete lack of documentation / manuals. Where the heck do I find a manual? That link just told me to unzip the files (where?), setup a DB( how, what name, what user / pass, do I need to create the tables manually?), etc. EDIT: I found the manual (had to log on to find it).... I'll have to pour through it to see if it makes sense. From what I gathered on the marketing end of WHMCS there is a built in trouble ticket system, correct? That would be handy, but I suppose only available to customers that purchased using the WHMCS system, right?

Download the full install (I believe the link is at the bottom of the page that has your license key). Unzip it on your PC, and look at the README file. It had enough info for me to get it installed the other day.
You can create the database in cpanel under "MySQL databases". Create a database called whmcs. It will actually be named "<yourdomain>_whmcs". Then create a user (if you call it admin, it will really be called "<yourdomain>_admin"). Then you'll need to assign all privledges to that database to the user you just created. As for where to upload, that will mainly depend on where whmcs will fit into your site. If you want it in a subdirectory called "clients", or "support", then rename the whmcs folder in the download to whatever you want it called, and upload the folder and contents to public_html. If you want whmcs to "be" your site, then you can upload just the contents of the whmcs folder to your public_html directory (this is what I'm doing). There is also an ioncube folder there as well. I don't know if you'll need it or not, but if you do, upload it to your public_html directory as well. There is also a status folder with the script that shows your server status. You can put it in public_html as well. Then, chmod the files that are specified in the readme, and run the installer (go to the install.php page in a browser). Answer the questions (don't forget to prepend your domain name to the user and database), and it'll take care of it from there. ![]() Give it a try, and let me know if you have problems. I'm sure we can get you through it. John

I had done exactly as John posted last week and found it very simple to install.
John - I too had wanted to make it the site but don't know really where to begin as far as the pages etc. Let me know how you make out or if you find really good instructions for it. |

I got all the back end stuff working - great actually...... now, is there a way to call / insert the "purchase" stuff into my existing site? Or do I have to re-skin whmcs to look like my site and point people to those pages to buy? Oh, and what ARE those pages called anyway?

Just add Your own code into them. (Don't delete the existing code) Whenever someone wants to buy something , the files in the directory where WHMCS is installed, is used. Like "order.php" for instance. Example: http://www.mysite.com <-- That's the mainpage of Your site http://www.mysite.com/whmcs/order.php <-- That's the order URL Hope this helps.
