Domain reselling?

Well, apparently WHMCS is awesome not only from the software, but also gives free (no setup/etc fees) domain reselling. Well, basically, you can allow your client to register domains fro mthe WHMCS for rates as low as $7.98 (that's really good when you don't have to pay anything to setup the account!). http://www.whmcs.com/freedirectiaccount.php

Anyways, the concern I have is this... Does it allow the client to manage (you know, change domain settings, activate auto-renew, change nameservers, request custom nameservers, etc) ON the WHMCS software via their account page?

I haven't seen any information on this... I could always ask sales over there, but if someone here knows, then wee! But yeah, definitely looking at offering domain reselling if this is true.

DirectI sucks major ass. I never liked the service for their domain names, so I use Stargate INC for my domain reselling. Very awesome service, and even better support. That and I pay $5.95 for domain transfer and $6.95 for registrations.

But yes, it does allow a user to specify their domain name servers (as well as updating them in the future) and YES DirectI uses their account name+address and uses the "client information" on Whois (and uses your personal information for the billing/admin section).

As far as custom nameservers, I honestly don't believe that it's available. I haven't checked myself, but I'll log into a client's account that I have registered domains through WHMCS with, to see exactly what features they have available, and I'll post some screenies for you.

Thanks for the recommendation, as that is even a better deal as well! Gotta show your clients you care with great prices

Anyways, in the demo I didn't see anything of what I asked, so I didn't know if the feature was there.

I'm excited to get going on this though

Well, you won't be able to get the $6.95 reseller without making a huge deposit into it. I lucked out and found a thread over at webhostingtalk.com where an employee was offering the resellers for free (the $6.95 without deposit) and that's how I got mine.

But you are able to edit the nameservers, and the contact information used. If they want custom nameservers, they're going to have to supply you with the NS IP addresses, and their desired nameserver.

I've been with Directi for over 2 years and can't understand why anyone would say 'it sucks'. I've never had any problems and yes, you can create custom nameservers and everything is very well documented. I can't speak for their support department as I've never had the need to contact them, but on the whole I can't fault it. There have recently been massive improvements and new services added to thier range which you can choose to resell or not, you do have complete control.
The only thing you have to ensure (and it might be the same with other domain reseller companies) you must have some funds in your account in order for the domains ordered to be registered. Small price to pay for I've found to be a very good service and my domains cost me buttons, mine are currently costing me about $4 dollars a year for .com, which is about £2 in my currency, I've not been able to better that anywhere.

I looked for Direct I and their prices. They have moved the domain reseller part to http://www.resellerclub.com/ and the 4 dollars domain you've talked about does´nt exist.
If you become a reseller and make a Initial Deposit about $11999 then you can get the a .com domain for $ 6.49.
Really I've must being on wrong web site right?

My pricing has always been good since I signed up, perhaps it's changed since I started out with them, but over the two years I've deposited a substantial sum and my domains have always been cheap.
I can't get a better deal anywhere than I have now.
